Christmas Gifts for a Steamboater

Hope everyone is having a good Christmas, or whatever holidays you may celebrate!

My sister got me some of the Battleship New Jersey Teak Decking, as well as tickets to go visit Battleship New Jersey in person!

Kind of neat to have a piece of such a historic steam vessel!

I just hope if I bring it onboard my steamboat I don't mistake it for a piece of fuel! :o

Thats a wonderful and thoughtful gift from your sister! Nice to have a sibling so thoughtful.

I happened upon a antique peddler who had a nice Powell I bought for myself for Christmas...

No, miller is not my drink of choice. Strictly for scale.

For scale in pictures I usually place a dollar bill, or a 155mm cannon projectile, but your placement of a beer can may be more universal across the various nations viewing a post. Are beer cans universal size?

Great whistle you have there.

Not a gift for me, but a gift for Vividus, a revolution counter made from a counter supplied by McMaster Carr, (#1895T49), that I mounted inside the case of a non-functioning 3-1/2" vacuum gauge.

Now for the mechanism to drive it!

I'm not sure if our cousins have mini cans like us... I know they have proper pints over there. All costs up front and no hidden taxes that short you a few cents, or ounces, when you check out at the register (Same goes for one's salary as well from what I'm told).

As for using artillery ammunition as scale Fred, the NATO 155mm is close enough in diameter to a Soviet 152mm so it could be universal-enough for our purposes.

Thank you! I'm happy with it. Now to try it on steam. The shop had a couple more organ-type ships whistles. A mere 3 and 4 feet tall...

I love that revolution counter Kelly! Easy to replace the internals too.
