Hello everyone,
I have been poking around the Forum for quite a while and finally decided to pull the trigger and register. My grandfather owned two or three steamboats when I was younger, and I started running one of them in the early 1970's before I was a teenager. He converted a lifeboat off a tug, and had one of the original Blackstaffe/Wood compounds with a scotch boiler. Now that I am getting near retirement, I m looking to purchase a boat of my own. So if anyone knows of a boat for sale, please let me know.

Hello Kim.
I suggest you add your location to your ID information, as asked by TahoeSteam.
If you are in the western part of the US, do join the NorthWest Steam Society.
https://www.northweststeamsociety.org/
Their online listings of items for sale will help you.
Best are the people and their knowledge.
My 17 ft Steam Thistle has one of the Blackstaffe/Wood steeple compound power plants.
Lots of enjoyment.
So welcome to the fray.

I currently live in the Los Angeles area and recently joined the Northwest Steam Society. I have family in the Bellingham Washington area. I plan to retire in two to four years and to move to the Seattle area.
Something local would be ideal, but I would drive cross country for the right boat.

Hi Kim
Welcome to the Forum. Glad to see that you have joined us.
Coming from the other side of the Pond, indeed the other side of the Globe, it might sound a bit silly to suggest that you study the Steam Boat Association of GB's Small Ads section where the boats for sale are listed. However, there are a good number of excellent boats for sale and they are just not selling. This is in part due to the depressed state of the UK economy in which the previous government left us. However, the US-GBP exchange rate is excellent in your direction so the boats will seem pretty cheap. It is also possible to ship boats on trailer across the pond using the RoRo liners that carry vehicles. I did that in order to import a hull from the US to the UK. It was looking to be a cost effective buy until the shipping agent decided to up his/her fees in the middle of the transaction. So it might be worth doing a bit of research.
Regards
Pete
