SBA VFT 102

I saw on the Boiler Design Library of the SBA website that the weight for the VFT 102 was 300kg, is this correct? seems high?

Out of interest in terms of getting a feel for steamplant matches of engines to boilers, is this boiler a good size to run a small boat (16ft?) with (as an example) a Stuart Taylor 5A?

Many thanks

If I'm not mistaken, the '102' indicates the square feet of heating surface. If that is the case, then the weight figure is realistic, and it would be heaps larger than is needed for either of your examples.

That little engine would get away with a boiler of a modest 20-30sqft of heating surface. A boiler around that size would be about just comfortable in a 16' boat as well.
