While looking for steam stuff, I found this. It is not mine and is not big enough for my needs.

Does anyone know the builder of this boiler?

I do not intend to criticize someone else's work, especially when I have not seen it in person, but there are at least two things any potential buyer should check out:

1) The safeties look like they might be air relief valves, not ASME steam relief valves (at least not any that I have seen).

2) It looks like major fittings may be screwed directly into the shell without thread-o-lets. While the 3/8" shell thickness would give reasonable thread holding, a little more beef would not be a bad idea (and would probably be a code requirement) for connections to the drum.

It may be that I'm just not seeing things clearly from the pictures (and/or I'm a bit paranoid). But since it is a non-code boiler built by an individual, it can't hurt to check it out very carefully before purchasing.

Just things to think about for anyone considering this (or any other boiler). Can't be too careful with boiler safety.

Cheers,
Scott
