Re: Help Identify an engine please.
Thanks, The flywheel measure 12 1/2" diameter and as far as I can tell there isn't a single marking anywhere that I've been able to locate yet.

Help Identify an engine please.
I know this engine isn't a steam boat engine but it is a steam engine and it was given to me by someone who gave it to me because they knew I had a steam boat. Anyone know what this might be? I looked it over and it needs a belt to drive the governor and one of the balls needs repair on the governor...

Re: Insurance
Can't get anyone to insure mine. It's covered by my homeowners at home on the trailer and by my auto policy when in tow but no one will insure it at all on the water here in Hawaii. Had one company tell me they couldn't insure it because it runs on wood. They said that was too flammable and the risk...

Re: Is any boat now better than waiting?
If the hull is sea worthy and fits with your engine and boiler and is compatible for the number of passengers and waters you'll be sailing on I'd say get it as the money you save on the less expensive hull can go into tools and other items to help you gradually clean up the craftsmanship issues and ...

Re: Stern Light
I've been using one like this: http://www.anchorlamps.com/BIGANCHOR10.html that runs on kerosene. I keep a bottle of kerosene onboard anyways to help light the fire quicker so there is always fuel for it. I used a stainless steel eye hook on a rib of my canopy and have a stainless carabiner holding ...

The name of your boat.
Just curious where and how do people place the name of their boats onto their boats here. I have an Elliot Bay 24' hull and placing a name on the stern would allow fish to be able to read it from the fantail so I was thinking of having vinyl graphics done to place on the front sides near the bow as ...
