Copper tubes for new VFT boiler

A special section just for steam engines and boilers, as without these you may as well fit a sail.

Copper tubes for new VFT boiler

Post by froya66 »

Hi

I am at present building a new VFT boiler for Frøya.

I want to use OD 22 mm copper tubes (this dimension corresponds very well with nominal size 3/4 " or OD 7/8 “) , but in Denmark I am only able to find those with a wall thickness of 1 mm and it should be at least 1.6 mm (approx 1/16 “ or 0.063”)

Can anybody advise where I can buy such tubes in UK, Germany or Sweden?

I need approx 22 m.

Best regards
Jørgen

I see suppliers w/ 2 mm wall thickness copper, but in 20 or 25 mm OD. Is 20 mm still an option?

Wosupply.com has such.

http://www.merseymetals.co.uk/

I used Merseymetals to buy my new copper tubes. I needed 20m of 3/8 18guage. Price compared very well to online suppliers.
