I think it's cool the way the engine keeps beat with the music. Really great song, I book marked it so I can go back.

Earlier today I saw a great video posted on this site of the steam tug Hercules (San Francisco CA) where did it go??

Very much like this video, but with a triple, and no music.

Good to bring this one to the front of the forum, we are celebrating tonite, New Years Eve

Fred,

I was the one that posted that. It's a video my father took of a video that was playing during the tugboat festivities at the Hyde St. Pier in San Francisco in 1996. It's of a 1995 voyage of the Hercules from Salsalito to the Hyde Street Pier.

I made the video private as I don't want to piss off the National Park Service for having put it up a very poor "pirated" copy their video without their permission, and get my channel shut down in turn. If anyone would like to view the video shoot me your email address to bilgerat671-AT-gmail.com or post it here and I'll add you to the "approved viewers" list.

I've edited it to extend the engine room footage over the original.

Sadly, I think that video will be the closest any of us will ever come to seeing the Hercules run under steam in the near future.

She has quite the history which can be found here: http://www.nps.gov/safr/historyculture/hercules.htm

They also had an exhibition in 2007-2008 celebrating her centennial: http://www.nps.gov/safr/historyculture/ ... eID=284308
