About Christmas?

Post by Cyruscosmo »

Hey All!

I got a wish list to fill and I am thinking that some interesting reading is in order

I am asking you all for the title and author of books that you found very helpful/informative on the subjects on the building of steam launches and the various systems therein, including steam engines, boilers and anything else you can think of that you may have discovered along the way.

If I don't get a wish list put together this year that has something besides CNC machinery and tooling on it I think my family is going to disown me. ;)

Cheers!

Scott
My Grandpa told me when I was 8 or so that “You have to learn by the mistakes of others! Because you will NOT live long enough to make them all yourself.” At that age I though I had forever to learn everything... ;-)

A favorite of mine, SELF PROPELLED VEHICLES, published 1900 - 1905, comes up on e-bay at times. The information on steam automobiles, their engines, the various boilers, burners, steam plant operation, etc. is well presented, and generally much more applicable to our steam launches than the engineering handbooks of later decades. Plenty of non-steam info also, but for me the steam chapters in this book have been very helpful.
