Excellent Bret. Post us plenty pictures of your conversion. Do you already have an engine and boiler or are they on the project list?
Best regards, John

Thanks, I have been conversing with Stan. I found his boat on the NW Steam Soc. website. Those pictures are helpful though, as I do not have any with the canopy close up. I am thinking of moving my boiler more forward of center, as my boat is 2' shorter, and I would like to have the seating togeather in the rear. The only problem is I will probably need a ballast tank if I am running solo. I ordered a 5 hp code boiler from Ronnie at Rappahannock Boat Works. I plan on wood or coal firing. The engine is one I am restoring a 3 by 4 inverted crosshead built without castings.

Hey Bret I've got most of the pics of Stan's boat as it is difficult to take a self portrait of oneself while at sea

Den, Thanks for the pictures! It really is a little workboat isn't it? Goood to see a small hull like mine can do some useful work.
Rainer, From NW Steam Society website :
loa 16 feet
lwl 16 feet
beam 5.25 feet
draft 2.5 feet
engine simple single 2.5 by 2.5 in
slip eccentric
condensing
ofeldt boiler, oil fired 18 ft2
BTW I read your website blog on the mini you are building, how is it coming?

What engine is in your lifeboat right now? Or is it a Hand cranked shaft? I've seen lifeboats such as yours when I worked at the shipyard, they had six positions for men to crank the shaft. Nice start to a fine project! I also have to ask, where did you find those mountains in the background. I don't remember any mountains in Indiana!

mtnman,
Good eye! that pic was taken when the boat was at it's previous owners place in Colorado

It currently is sans engine, just a shaft stub beyond the thrust bearing.

I'm more a snapshooter than a photographer! Den
